Both ends of the season

Snowbirds arrive in late October and November and leave after Easter. Call as soon as you have a date.

The season has a familiar shape: most snowbirds come down in late October and November, Florida's seasonal population is at its height in January and February, and things wind down after Easter. The moving happens at the two ends, when people come and go.

If your move falls in either window, call as soon as you have a date. Your building's rules on notice, elevators and move hours still apply in those weeks, and the date has to suit the building as well as us.

Arrivals in late October and November come before hurricane season ends on November 30. Keep an eye on the forecast in the week before your move, and have a second date in mind in case a storm comes close.

Arriving for the season

Out of a storage unit or last winter's condo and into this season's home, with approvals in place.

At the start of the season, the moves we handle run from one Florida address to another: out of a storage unit you rent and into a rental, from last winter's condo into this one, or into a place you've just bought. If it's coming out of a storage unit, tell us the unit's size and whether everything in it is moving.

If you're renting, start the association's approval as soon as the lease is signed. Some buildings approve every lease as well as every sale (Jupiter Harbour in Jupiter is one), and that approval has to come before move-in day.

If you're still up north when you book, the walkthrough can wait until you're back, or someone you trust can show us around on a video call. Our snowbird moving checklist covers what else to arrange before you arrive.

Leaving after Easter

Out of a rental by the lease end, into storage, or a home closed up before hurricane season.

At the end of the season, the move can run the other way: out of a rental by the end of the lease, into a storage unit you rent until fall, or to a family member's home elsewhere in Florida. Give us the lease end date when you book, since the unit has to be empty by then.

If the home is yours and will stand empty for the summer, the job may be small: patio or balcony furniture brought indoors, pieces moved away from windows, and a few things taken to family elsewhere in Florida. Hurricane season starts on June 1, while you're away, so it's worth doing before you leave.

Questions about seasonal and snowbird moves

All questions
Can you move my things into a storage unit for the summer?

Yes, into a self-storage unit you rent in Florida, and back out again when you return in the fall. The unit's address goes on the written estimate like any other delivery address.

Can someone else be there for the move if I'm not in Florida yet?

Yes. Tell us who will let us in and answer questions on the day, and give us their number. You still need to sign or acknowledge the estimate and contract before work starts, so we'll settle the paperwork with you beforehand.

Do you move condo to condo?

Yes. With two buildings involved, we need the move rules from both offices: hours, notice, elevator bookings and any certificate of insurance. Our page on condo and apartment moves explains how we plan around them.
