We're a moving company in Delray Beach, with our office on Congress Park Drive, and much of the area is a short drive away: Highland Beach is about 5 miles, Boynton Beach about 6 and Boca Raton about 8. On a move that close, the drive is a small part of the day, and most of the hours go into wrapping, carrying and loading.
We go further along the coast too. Deerfield Beach is about 12 miles from the office, Lake Worth Beach about 13, West Palm Beach about 24, Palm Beach Gardens about 33 and Jupiter about 38, and the areas we serve page lists the rest.
Show us everything first
A walkthrough of every room, closet, garage and shed, in person or by video. Then the estimate, in writing.

We give a written estimate after a walkthrough, in person or by video call. We need to see every room, plus the closets, the garage, the patio and anything in a shed, because a mover can only estimate what it has been shown.
The walkthrough protects you as much as us. Palm Beach County's guidance treats the written estimate as the most you should pay, unless you didn't hold up your end, for instance by not showing the mover everything that's moving. If your plans change after we've estimated, tell us and we'll put the change in writing for you to sign.

What Florida law requires
A registered mover, and a signed written estimate and contract before any work starts.
Read moreShow less: What Florida law requires
Chapter 507 of the Florida Statutes applies to every move that begins and ends in Florida, local ones included, and it requires movers to register with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Our guide to checking a Florida mover shows where to confirm a registration and what else to look for.
Nothing should start until the estimate and contract are in writing and both of you have signed or acknowledged and dated them. Among other things, they have to name both addresses, the proposed dates and anywhere your goods will be held, itemize every cost and service with a total, and list how you can pay, where at least two of three options must be accepted: cash or its equivalent, a personal check, or a credit card.
The Tri-County disclosure form, used across Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade, comes with the estimate and is signed before any work. If a mover wants a deposit, Palm Beach County's guidance keeps it to 20% of the estimate or less.
How moving day runs
Floors and door frames covered, furniture padded and wrapped, beds rebuilt, boxes set down in their rooms.

We start by protecting the house, with runners on the floors and padding on door frames and banisters where furniture will pass. Furniture is wrapped in quilted pads, with stretch wrap to hold the pads in place and keep drawers and doors shut.
Beds and tables are taken apart where they need to be, with the hardware bagged and kept with each piece, then put back together at the new place. Boxes go to the room written on them, so label each one with its room as well as what's inside.
Summer brings its own planning. NOAA's averages for Palm Beach International put July and August highs at about 90°F, with roughly 8–9 inches of rain in each of June, August and September, compared with about 3.5 in January. On a summer move an early start helps, and we keep mattresses and upholstered pieces covered until they're indoors.

Questions about local moving
All questionsHow far do you go on a local move?
Local moves are within Palm Beach County and north Broward, which takes in places as far apart as Jupiter and Deerfield Beach. If you're not sure where your addresses fall, call (386) 296-6193 and ask.
Can you estimate a local move without a visit?
Yes, by video call. Walk us through each room on your phone, opening the closets and showing us the garage and the way in from the street, and the estimate that follows is in writing, just as it would be after a visit.
How much does a local move cost?
Three things decide it: how much is moving, how easy both homes are to get in and out of, and the distance between them. So we don't give a figure until we've seen it, and after a walkthrough you get a written estimate with every cost itemized. You can request a quote online to set one up.
